We were on our way home, stood at the crossing outside one of the big banks. As we waited for the green man, a guy was running from the police and caught me across the back. I ended up in the road, lying on my back. My friend then came to get my phone from my bag and ring my Mum. They both say it went something like "Hi Hannah's Mum it's me (her name), I know you don't know me but Hannah's been involved in an accident, there's an ambulance on the way and a police officer is with her". Mum was with her friend who said that the colour drained from my Mum's face and she was getting in a state. Mum's friend took charge and was like "Leave your car here I will take you, get your handbag and your keys etc." I knew she was on her way but between the ambulance taking forever to get to me and it being one of the main roads through our town I knew it was going to be hard for my Mum to get there. She was at work on one side of town but to get to where I was she was going to need to take the one way system and not be able to get to me. The ambulance got to us and they got me on the spinal board and into the ambulance as my Mum arrived - woohoo!

One of my Dad's colleague's happened to witness the accident and some how word of mouth got back to my Dad before Mum rang to tell him. I think when she did ring he was at the door with his coat on leaving the building!

When we have had to call out an ambulance we've been so blessed with having really kind and caring crews. We had to call 999 a couple of months back when our little boy had croup as he was red and in a state. By the time the ambulance got to us he'd stopped coughing and was calming down again. I was so incredibly grateful that they understood that we weren't trying to waste their time and thankfully they got that kids can change that quickly on you.
