happy birthday, packy!

Jack, Logan and I accompanied Roxanne & Ferris to the zoo today. It just so happened to be Packy the elephants' 48th birthday. This was his {amazing} cake!

And {this} was the cookie Roxanne got for breakfast.
How very celebratory of her!

Hooray for Sea Lions!
Before we saw the sea lions we had been watching the otters, and when the otter would swim away, Jack would say, "come back!"over and over, until he returned. His little voice was so sweet and sincere.

Here's sweet boy Ferris.

And the sleepy polar bear.

Packy, Mommy, Logan & Jack

Packy, Ferris & Roxanne

This boy is so beautiful.
And so serious lately.
My goal has been to get him giggling.

And this boy is so handsome.
And looking far too grown up.
We've been making extra time for good snuggles!

Jack, on our way home...
note the new shoes-
my friend Rachel informed me of a sale and I got both pair for less than $40.00, I was very happy! Thank you, Rachel!

What a great trip to the zoo. Fun for the boys, and fun for Roxanne and I to get caught up on all the good gossip! That's what sisters are for!

we heart ferris valentine

here jack is holding the new picture we have up in our living room of ferris. he even kissed it!

and here 27 lb. logan is swinging with 19 lb. ferris in his lap. that is true love, baby!

family play

When we got to my mom's last Sunday, it was a beautiful day, so we all hung out in the driveway, riding bikes, doing chalk and shooting hoops.

Logan pulling his bike.

Isaiah pushing Jack on his bike.
He's trying to teach him how to pedal.

Fun with chalk...

Nanny & her youngest grandsons.

My family is my sunshine!

big boys

I love this...
My three men.

Take One

And the outtake...

Our Bogey boy

Swingin' Logan Bogan boy

Mowin' with Papa

Anything Papa does, the boys want to do.
So my parents bought the boys these little bubble lawn mowers.

And now the boys can mow right alongside Papa Barry.

They are so scrumptious!

Logan really took the whole job quite serious.

He knows that lawnmowers all need a little TLC.

Working hard with Papa.

And when Jack wouldn't help anymore, Logan took the job on himself.
Hey, this way it gets done twice as fast!

Yes, Poison Control???

So last Friday Josh had to run some errands and took Jack with him. I stayed at the house with Logan, and my sister-in-law Andrea and her son Gustav were over. The boys were playing while Andrea and I visited. Then it seemed like it was too quiet, so I stepped into the kitchen to find Logan sitting in front of the sink with the cupboard door (which has a child magnet lock on it) open, holding a Windex bottle facing him. His shirt was soaked, and I smelled his mouth: very Windex-y. Uh oh.
1-800-222-1222
Yes, Poison Control???
My 22 month old son has been squirting Windex in his face.
How much? I'm not sure.
His mouth smells like it, and his shirt is all wet.

Fast forward a half an hour. (I have been informed that Windex is mostly water and that he will probably be just fine. That without unscrewing the lid it's unlikely that he ingested that much.)
While eating dinner his eyes start watering, and he tells me "Mommy, owie." So I call again. And I shove his face under the water faucet to rinse them out. She tells me to watch for infection from the Windex weakening his eyes' immunity.

Sure enough, yesterday his eye started weeping and we had to head to Urgency Care to get eyedrops for an infection. Poor baby.

What really kills me is that I only had to watch ONE kid, and couldn't do it properly. Ha!

10 {whole} years

Today is our ten year "dating" anniversary. Josh claims that this anniversary doesn't count. Which I suppose is correct. But it is still a day that holds special meaning for me. So I thought it was post-worthy.

We met in March of 2000 in our American Sign Language (ASL) class at Mountain View High School. I was a student in the class, and he (since he knew sign language from having been raised with a Deaf sister) was the teacher's assistant. One of the first things he said to me was that I looked pretty. Aww!
After flirting a bit in class, we went on a class field trip, during which I gave him my phone number. It happened to be spring break, so we decided to go to the movies. We also went to the traveling carnival that had set up in the Target parking lot. Shortly after those first few dates (on April 11, 2000) I told Josh that I wanted to make things official and be his girlfriend.
I loved talking to him, I loved how he could make me laugh, and never made me self conscious. He accepted me as I was. I loved that about him. I remember talking to him about his {large} family, and wondering if I would EVER be able to memorize all his sisters names (something I have since mastered :).
{Junior Prom, May 2000}
Our first BIG date was for Junior Prom in May of 2000. I felt like "Andy" from Pretty In Pink in my dress, and we had a wonderful time together.

{Senior Homecoming, October 2000}
Our second BIG date was Senior Homecoming. This date was still really fun, but Josh had just had his first grand mal seizure and was forbidden from driving. This really bummed him out and I had to drive. It wouldn't be until two years later that he would be diagnosed with epilepsy.
P.S. That hair took TWO HOURS to curl!

{Winter Tolo, December 2000}
This was a pretty laid back dance, and we just got chinese food beforehand. The next day Josh was barfing his guts out and he swore off chinese food for years after that.

{Sweethearts Dance, February 2001}
I felt really beautiful at this dance, and at this point we had been together nearly a year, and were at that point where you're just really comfortable together. It was nice to reach that point.

{Christmas 2001}
Just typing the number 2001 brings a lot of memories. 2001 was the year I graduated from high school. Josh had not completed enough credits to graduate, although he had attended for twelve years. Fall of 2001 he decided to join a second-year-senior program to complete his diploma when September 11th happened, and he never went back.

{April 2002}
Our second anniversary we spent in a cabin at Long Beach. We had so much fun, sight seeing, walking along the coast and taking these fun pictures in a photo booth at the arcade.

{August 8, 2002}
We got engaged during a road trip to Vancouver, BC in Canada after we had been on a short break. We knew we were meant to be together and wanted to spend the rest our lives side by side. I was currently working on my associates (2 year) degree at Clark College and Josh was working full time and living on his own.

{Fall 2002}
Our engagement party was held at my parents house, and was a very memorable night. My dad gave Josh "condolences" for choosing me. He meant to say "Congratulations"... I think. (ha!) I felt gorgeous and we were really excited to start the next phase of our lives.

{Engagement Photo Shoot, Fall 2002}

{This is the one we put in the wedding invitations}

Two weeks before our wedding, while going to get our marriage license, Josh had his second grand mal seizure, and was later diagnosed with frontal lobe epilepsy. Thankfully it is controlled with medication.
Our wedding was held August 8, 2003, one year after he proposed, and it was a great day. Our honeymoon was awesome, spent in Newport at a beachfront condo.
I graduated from WSU with my bachelor of science in psychology in 2005. And Josh became an ASL interpreter at an elementary school.
In 2006 he began his education at Clark. He was also hit by a drunk driver that year.
In the fall of 2007 I was turning 25 and wanted {desperately} a baby.
June 2008 we welcomed two bundles of joy into our family.
And now (in five short weeks) Josh will graduate from WSU with his Bachelor of Arts in Education. And in less than two months we will be celebrating our twin boys' second birthday.

In the last ten years we have made a home together, a life together, and I am so happy to have done it all with him by my side. I love you, baby.

saturday play

{Jack}
So lately, it's been impossible to get a good picture of the boys. Alone, or together. They are just constantly on-the-move and often we are so busy playing or making a giant mess, that I don't even bother to get out the camera. So yesterday I tried to capture a few smiles. The quality is not great. I think my camera is tired... poor thing... I totally understand. But until we can afford a new one, it'll have to do. So please forgive our finicky flash & our grainy grins!

{Jack}
Here are two of Jack playing "Go night-night/ Wake Up!" This is a household favorite. They get their binkies & bubbas & pillows & blankets and pretend to go to sleep. Then they (quite violently) WAKE UP!!! It's hilarious!

{Logan}
And here precious Logan looks so cozy that he may very well actually fall asleep.

{Logan}
He's been doing this lately, like a fake nervous thing. It's funny.

{Logan}
There's that gorgeous smile. I think that he is growing currently because he never seems to have slept long enough, eats like he is STARVING and is kind of cranky.

{Jack}
This picture breaks.my.heart. He looks like a BIG kid. Like he's three or four, not about to be two. There is not even a trace of baby left. He's looking at me like, "Another picture, mom?" and leaning against the couch like a little boy. Where did my super-pudgy, drooling, crawling BABY go?

{Logan}
At least the boys like to "play" baby. Saturday Josh wrapped them up burrito-style in the big couch blanket and rocked them back and forth singing "Rock-a-bye Baby."

{Jack}
They loved it!

{Daddy & Jack}
Lucky for us the boys still love to snuggle & be snuggled. That is my saving grace. Even though they are no longer babies, they still let me hold them, hug them, kiss them and squeeze them. I used to go in at night to rock them as they slept, but last time I did that (on their 22nd-month-birthday) I woke them BOTH up and was awake until midnight with them trying to get them to go back to sleep.
So. Umm. Yeah. That phase is over.
{insert pouty face & sad tears here}

{Logan}
Here's his pose for pictures. Pretty adorable.

{Logan}
No words necessary.

{Logan}
His smile just makes me smile.

{Logan}
Pretending to be shy.

{Jack & Logan}
This is the closest I got to a good picture of the two of them together. They can't sit still, I tell you!

RANDOM {cute} INFORMATION:
They can almost count to ten, skipping about 2 or 3 numbers.
They can wink (or look like they are trying to, anyway).
They say "Bless you" when someone sneezes.
They fake sneeze.
They say "thank you" & "you're welcome" constantly.
They tell each other "my turn" and "let go" and "no."
The other day Jack took a clean shirt out of the laundry basket, walked over to Sukie, sleeping on the couch, and proceeded to "clean" her ears with it. He told her "Sukie. Clean."

They are just at such a fun age right now. They are learning like sponges, and copying EVERYTHING we do. They love to sing. They like to practice blowing out birthday candles. They LOVE washing their hands in the sink and say "oooh, bubbles" when they get good & sudsy. They prefer open top cups to sippy cups, which is something I indulge when I can. They are just becoming quite independent and always have their own idea of how things should go.
