just a day at the beach...

{Jack}
For a few days over spring break we headed to the coast to stay with my grandparents. The boys LOVE my grandparents, and I am pretty sure the feeling is mutual. They go on walks with the boys and let them play with all the coolest toys!

We ate out quite a bit and the boys were *fabulous*!!! Seriously. I was so impressed with our mild mannered little men.

We (read: mommy) forgot to pack their sippy cups, which had me concerned. But they did great with these cups, lids & straws.

And when their pancakes & eggs came, they used their forks like old pros and chowed down.

Logan loved his pancakes (and syrup) so much that he thought he needed to lick the plate.

As you can see, bad mommy Shelly did not stop this behavior but instead giggled uncontrollably and asked Josh to snap a picture. (Bad mommy!)

Whenever the sky gave us a break we headed out for much needed exercise for the boys.

The boys don't want to hold hands, be held or ride in a stroller, so whenever we can, we allow them this independence. They say, "Walk!?! Walk?!?" And sometimes, as an afterthought, "pleeeease?"

While Jack had no interest in holding my hand, he was more than happy to hold "Papa"s hand. (I tried to get the boys to call him Grandpa cause we already have two papa's, but Papa it is!)

"Walk! Walk!"

While in Rockaway, you simply must make the trip to Tillamook to get some ice cream at the Cheese Factory.

{Jack & Mommy}
So that's exactly what we did. The boys now walk around signing "Ice cream! Ice cream!" excitedly. Too cute!

{Jack}
At grandma's house the boys like to:
play with the phone
try on hats
& use grandma's cleaning products to "clean"

{Logan}
They also love to listen to grandma's {totally cool} train whistle.

{Logan}
Grandma asked, "Do you think this love of cleaning will last?" To which Josh and I replied in unison, "No." We are under no illusion that this adorable love-to-sweep phase will last into their teen years. We wish!

Clean up, clean up,
everybody, everywhere!
Clean up, clean up,
everybody, do your share.

When we leave the boys hug, blow kisses & say "I've you" (I love you), waving their fingers around like they are trying to sign it.

As always, it was a great trip. And extra exciting this time because Josh is thinking about looking at jobs in the area, so we spent a lot of time driving around, checking out rentals & just the area in general. I am scared, but also very excited. :)

  2. Gotta love a day at the beach! That's a cute picture of you and Logan together (giggling at Logan). My boy Gustav did the same thing. I laughed at him too. We are bad mommies. ;)
