We knew that while Josh was home we wanted to get down to the coast & see my grandparents.
We took our time getting ready & got their a little after noon. We ate lunch at our favorite place, The Cow Bell, and the boys were really good.
Then we fed the seagulls Goldfish until Josh said they were scratching the paint on the hood of the car.
It was a rainy, rainy day in Rockaway, so we spent most of it indoors. Lucky for us Grandma's best friend Shirley came over with her husband Kenny to play.
Shirley has two children, but no grandchildren or great grandchildren of her own.
So she's kind of adopted us.
And Kenny himself is a twin. He lost his twin a few years back, and I think he enjoys seeing Jack & Logan together.
I am going to miss seeing my grandparents as regularly as we do. They are an amazing source of support for me. They did this exact same thing about 50 years ago. They had both been working their hind ends off, barely making ends meet when grandpa decided it was time for a change. He had some family here in Vancouver, so he left grandma in North Dakota with their two sons living with her dad.
He found work, sent for her, and they began a new life here in the Pacific Northwest, away from their friends, family & everything else they knew.
Knowing they did it, found friends & have had a happy, full life gives me hope for what my future holds.
It was hard to say goodbye, but knowing we'll be back in May helps.
Shirley is so dang cute. Great picture of you with Gma & Gpa & the boys. :)
