Today I am 14 weeks.
Officially, by all accounts, in my second trimester.
A month before I got pregnant, my penpal Annie (hi, Annie!) sent me this card from Saint Gianna. She had gone to see (and touch) some of Saint Gianna's belongings and sent me the card with prayers for my fertility. That month I got pregnant (for the third time with my fourth child) and so far, it's all going beautifully. My body is sore, I am nauseous, and I can fall asleep at the drop of a hat. All good signs, I think.
I am grateful to have made it through the first trimester, but hitting my second is bittersweet. Josh leaves in two weeks, and will be gone for the majority of it. He won't be back again until Halloween, and at that point, I will be a week away from the third trimester. It's crazy to think of time that way.
While he's gone, though, I will have the big 20 week ultrasound to look forward to. I have trouble imagining it could be a girl, so my assumption is that it will be a boy. But, to be fair, with my other pregnancies (the twins' and Wyatt's) I was SURE I was having a girl, and they were all boys. So basically, my mother's intuition means nothing in this case!
We have quite the list of boys names, and girls names, but there are more boy names I love than girl names. So if you have suggestions (for either), I'd love to hear them. I would like something that sounds good with the boys' names, and preferably that doesn't start with their initials (L, J, or W). Although that said, I love the name Leah, which obviously starts with L. So the "rules" aren't too strict. ;)

ReplyDeleteSo, I remember suggesting Wyatt as a boy name and was excited when you liked it. It was one of my picks if Ruby was a boy. Reid is great. It has the same strength as the other names but its own character. Nolan is also fun. Girl names I like Carly and Natalie. They got top billing for me too. Also Cora and Clara are fun too and along the same lines as some of your other ones. So excited to find out what you're having!

ReplyDeleteUm, Gianna!!!! Duh. ;). I actually love Gianna but my husband does not. Really, I love all your boy choices - you couldn't go wrong with any of those. Reid and Bryce may be my tops, but again, they are all good. Your girl choices are definitely more eclectic - I love Caroline, Kate, and Lucy, Sophie. Oh and Leah! Such a classic but definitely underused. Leah Cunningham. Leah Marigold is an awesome name! Also, I've found out at the tail end of week 15 with 3/4 of mine. Is there nowhere around there that y'all could go to get a "sneak peak ultrasound" before Josh leaves? (I am totally saying this from the goodness of my heart for Josh and not at all bc I would like to know in two weeks ;) ;) ;))
ReplyDeleteBoys: Aiden, Gabriel aka Gabe (these are the 2 names I loved but my husband vetoed!), I also like Owen and Nolan
ReplyDeleteGirls: Caroline, Emmaline, Abagail, Carly, Bailey
Genevieve Magnolia! Love love it.
ReplyDeleteHi there! Long time lurker here and thought I'd come out of the woodwork to tell you how happy I am for you and your family :) My name is actually Genevieve. As a child I had a hard time with it- spelling it, pronouncing it (teachers were the worst at this the first day of school), fitting it onto my school papers, etc. As an adult I will say that I love it though! I think all your name choices are great- I especially like Gretchen for a girl and Theodore for a boy.
ReplyDeleteI love Miriam! Classic!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited you asked for your readers' opinions on this - how fun! :)
ReplyDeleteI hope we can give you some good ideas/thoughts even though, no matter what, you & Josh have chosen names 3 times before that are wonderful and you will choose a great one for this baby too.
For the girls names, I like several of them, but I'm not in love with them as much as the boy names. I can't help but try to add one to your list for consideration - Elena (pronounced "ee-lay-nuh"). I think Elena Cunningham sounds beautiful and I can't get it out of my mind!! :)
From your boys list, I love Reid and Owen. Nolan is a close 3rd, but it's too similar in sound/pitch to Logan - they have the same syllables ("o" and "an") that occur in the same placement in each name, and they both include an "l" sound somewhere in the name. I know Owen is also similar in sound/pitch to both of those too, but I think the "w" sound and the lack of an "l" sound make it different enough to stand on its own.
Owen! I love Owen! For some reason, I'm hearing "Owen Blake" but based on your family I would say Owen Samuel.
ReplyDeleteFor a girl, may I suggest Rosella? That was my grama's name and if I'd had a girl I would have named her Rosella and called her Ella (that was before Frozen took over the world). My grama went by Rosie (and people called my grampa Bud - Bud & Rosie!).
From your list of girl names, I like Caroline, Leah, and Eleanor (I would call her El).
So happy for you!
Oh I'm so happy that she sent you that prayer card of St. Gianna! She is such a beautiful, inspiring saint and one of my favorites. If you ever get a chance to read a book about her, let me know.
ReplyDeleteLove all your girl names too...we have very similar taste! :)
!!!!! so exciting! You have such great names picked! I can't wait to hear about how your ultrasound goes. What a lucky baby to get you for a mumma, seriously. What are some of the names the boys are requesting? hahha, kids always come up with the most hilarious of names. The name I picked out got picked for my baby sisters' middle name when I was six! I love all the names, the momma and daddy know best xxoxox
ReplyDeleteSo fun! I *love* picking out names! My top pick from your boy list is Nolan, and my top pick for the girls is Lucy. There is a seriously adorable Gretchen in Ellie's preschool class, so that name makes me smile, too :)
ReplyDeleteI also love love girl names, probably because I was blessed with a boy and wasn't able to use our girl name. Had we had a girl, she would have been named Camille Gloria (middle name is to honor her great-grandmother and great aunt). For a second boy, we were waffling between Lucas, Declan, Alexander, Carson and James. Regardless of our first name choice, his middle name would have been Theodore to honor my husband's cousin and best friend, Teddy. So I LOVE seeing Theodore on your boys name list. Genevieve has always been a favorite name of mine, as has Eleanor, Josephine and Alice.
ReplyDeleteNo matter what his/her name will be, she will be loved and adored! Happy thoughts as you enter your second trimester!
