Around Here: week 32

Enjoying... watching people see Josh and our three boys together.  The look on some people's faces is priceless.  Just the twins can catch people's attention, but the four of them together look so exactly the same, people are flabbergasted when they see them.  It never fails to make me laugh.

Feeling grateful... for both a smooth trip to our new hometown, and for the help we had in getting our house ready for us while we were still in Vancouver packing.  (more on the move to come!)

Accomplishing... the huge job of unpacking.

Celebrating... our thirteen year wedding anniversary on Monday.  It's sure been a crazy ride!

Spending money... by the bucketload at Lowe's this week as we work on, tweak and fix up our new house.  Hello new toilet & sink faucet!

Breathing... for at least a few minutes each morning at the bar in our kitchen.  That sweet little counterspace makes me smile every morning.

Working on... getting Carly on a good routine.  We went back to swaddling (it just works for us) and are hoping if we focus on better daytime sleep, her night time sleep will follow suit.

Tearing up... when Wyatt said the best part of his day was right then, at the dinner table, where we were all together as a family.  It's been a long year, and we are all so thankful to be together in one place with all our belongings and each other.

Loving... the backyard.  The boys wake up and the first thing they want to do is go outside.  It's pretty much my favorite!

Relishing... how much this place already feels like home.

Looking forward... to getting more settled and establishing a good routine once school starts.  So many good things in our future.

  1. So happy you're starting this series too. It definitely is the one reason I continue to blog - little weekly memories add up to one big and full life!
And P.S. SO jealous of you guys in sweatshirts!! We are melting here with temps over 100 degrees.

  2. Hi! As we were talking to some new Alaskans, they were wondering about how to get a couch delivered (we're about 3 hours from Anchorage on the road system), and it made me wonder what Josh did with all the belongings that weren't of use to the family anymore. Did he have a "garage sale"?

  3. Kristin-- Yes, Josh had multiple sales as he worked his way through the house, deciding what to keep and what to sell. The furniture in our house, however, was provided by the school district (and brought in by barge) so that all stayed in the housing.
We did have some furniture (like bookshelves & an exercise machine) that we bought from Target and were able to sell before we moved.

  4. yay!! So happy about your Around Here series - and what a week to get started! moving week!! I am so excited for you guys - and hang in there on the unpacking/cleaning/buying. ugh, worst parts of homeownership! haha! It will feel so awesome when you're new place feels well worn and lived in (although that's a whole new frustration - HAH - why is our house never cleaned up and everything broken!? LOL)

I love how happy the boys are with a backyard, how awesome for them (and you!) and the trampoline!! oh gosh, so many memories to be made in your new home - so very excited for all of you!

(I completely agree with Ashley - lots of little weeks add up to one big, full life. she has a knack for explaining things just right!)
