Weekends: Wake up. Wear Glasses. Do Homework. |
Missing Papa always. |
Feeling touched... that when discussing what it would be like to have your mom be your teacher, Wyatt told my sister and his cousin Ferris that if it was me, I would be super nice. Awwww! I love you, Super Wy!
Wanting... a kitten sooo bad. But I know that I leave in a few weeks for Europe and that wouldn't be a super nice thing to do to Joshua. So... it probably won't happen any time soon.
Subbing... For Carly's teacher on reptile day and what a fun day to be in a first grade classroom!!! The kids were so excited and learning all the facts about the lizards and turtles and alligator was fascinating. Plus, I got to pose with Lucy the Gator on my head! So cool.
As usual... doing all the homework this week. I am almost done for summer and I cannot wait!!!
Loving... the Lego house from Up! that Wyatt built at my mom's this weekend. It's so cute. And he is the sweetest and let me put it on display downstairs. It makes me smile every time I walk past it. The details are to die for. There's a jar with change, and the dog, and even the scrapbook that Ellie makes!
Going back... to Dr. Chough (the orthopedic surgeon) with Logan to see what, if anything, we should do about Logan's opening surgery scar from his collar bone repair and finding out that Dr. Chough has done some homework and wants to do another surgery. Not what we wanted to hear. But it's been three months and it is not healing. If anything, it's getting worse. Dr. Chough thinks that Logan may have a metal allergy, and nothing but taking that metal plate out of there is going to allow his wound to close up and heal properly.
Sending... Josh to Logan's playoff game as I am just drowning in homework. I hated to miss it, and I have to tell you, I regret not going. Next time, I'll go. But! They won! So even though I hated missing it and am mad at myself for not going, I was so happy for him! He got an awesome hit and sent some guys home. It was fantastic. So proud of that kid!
Waking up... Wednesday and sending the other kids to school while prepping Logan for repeat surgery. He is a champ's champ, though, and never even complained. He did great during surgery, and he even got to keep the metal plate they removed.
The bone had healed enough in the last three months that taking the plate off was no big deal. His bone is still secure and will continue to grow stronger, and now his surgery site should close up no problem. (Fingers crossed!) His coach, who knew he was having surgery, called to check on him. It was so sweet. And all in all, I have to say I don't regret putting in the plate. It allowed his bones to heal so quickly. Without it, he would still be having to avoid any risky behavior with his body.

Continuing... to fight with the boys on grades and homework. I am reteaching myself things like parabolas (sigh) and other stuff I forgot after seventh grade. Haha! Seriously parents, what did you do before Google and Youtube!?!
Attending... our final EF Tour meeting. We leave for Europe in one month!!! We got all the last minute stuff done- medicaction lists, allergies and passport copies. My mom got me euros from her bank since ours doesn't deal in international currency. And I went and bought luggage for Jack and I since we are going to be traveling with carry-ons only. (gulp!!! This Enneagram 6 is freaking out about traveling so light. Eeek!) I have also ordered sandals to try for my trip (from Amazon) and got shampoo and lotion bars so I don't run out of "liquids" room in my carry on. I also bought stuff to do laundry in our hotel room (bungee cords that double as laundry lines and little soap packets that work in a sink) and I got myself new shorts and undergarments for the outfits I ordered.
Listening... to We Can Do Hard Things, which is the theme song to the We Can Do Hard Things podcast by Glennon Doyle. Her daughter wrote the song and recorded it with Brandi Carlile and it's so beautiful and inspiring. I love it.
Taking Carly... to the library to check out some books. She was absolutely thrilled. Every time I go to the library I think, "Why don't I do this more often?" So hopefully this will mean more trips over the summer.
Have I mentioned... that I love how little kids spell things? For reading this week Carly and I read a Sesame Street book about Snuffleupagus. She wrote it on her reading log for school and my heart just melted a little bit when I read it. I also love little kids trying to learn something new. Carly has been working on blowing bubbles with gum and tying her shoes. I love the effort she has to put into it and how excited she is to show everyone around her the progress she is making. I'm so proud of that little girl!
Speaking of proud... Jack has taken on a project he found at the land (where Josh's parents live). It's a mini-bike (think like a tiny, motorized bike) and he wants to sand and re-paint it and get it running. He's so excited and I think it'll be a great project for him to work on over the summer.
Spilling... applesauce all over the kitchen bar stool and floor. Grrrr. I hate when I do stuff like this.
Spending the night... with Carly at my parents' house for fun and having the best time. She got to have a bunch of one on one time with her cousin Milo (who is currently her favorite) and she got lots of special attention from Nanny whom she also adores. Mom and I loved watching her play with the Barbies mom has at her house. The mom Barbie was rocking the baby and she was singing "Edelweiss" which is doubly special to me because my grandma always sang it, and I sing it to Carly at bedtime.
