Summer Fun: Rockaway Beach, one last time

Before this summer begins, I'd like to get all the adventures of last summer blogged.  So I am doing a Summer Fun series, full of sunshine and happy memories.
Enjoy!

One of the most important trips we made once August hit, and our departure was imminent, was to go see my grandparents one more time where they live in Rockaway Beach, Oregon.

I grew up going to Rockaway. Since I was eight years old.

And now my kids are growing up visiting.

We love the steam train that runs through town,

as well as my grandma's best friend Shirley, who is the boys' surrogate grandmother.
She loves those crazy boys!

When we got there, it was beautiful weather,
so we let the boys ride bikes up and down the street in front of grandma's house.

They were so happy.

And brave racing down that hill!

Jack even did "no feet"... His mother is fairly sure he's too young for that.
And also that it's a bad idea to do "no feet" so close to gravel.
Eek!

My grandma has a serious green thumb.
I love the flowers around her house.

And I love how much she and my grandpa love our boys.

Just looking at these next few pictures makes me tear up.

Saying goodbye to my grandparents was really, really hard.

I cried as we drove out of town and Josh held my hand.

"Saying goodbye doesn't mean anything.
it's the time we spent together that matters, not how we left it."

Oh honey - beautiful post. You look beautiful. Grandma's flowers are incredible. I love how they love you and Josh and the boys. So special. And Shirley, oh she's sweet!
Such great pictures!

Great pictures, especially of the flowers - wow! I've got to take my boys on the train this year. Grandma and Grandpa are such involved grandparents (and great grandparents), we're very blessed.
