19 months!

{Logan & Jack}

Our little boys are 19 months!
We have so much to be thankful for.
They are talking & signing like crazy. They know roughly 50 words/signs. They are learning to get along, to share & try to be kind to one another. Although we still have some pushing, we are thankful that it's not biting. {There is always a silver lining!} They are climbing, running, hugging, kissing & copying everything we do. (wiping down their high chairs, putting on coats/socks/shoes, sweeping) They are funny, love to read, love to play chase and love to pet our cat Sukie & say "soft". I feel lately that they are looking more and more identical. In the beginning I was really scared of the one & a half to two year old stage. Where they are fairly mobile, but don't listen well. And I have to say that it hasn't been as hard as I thought it would be. For me, so far, the worst part of parenting twins has been the lack of sleep we experienced. (For 15 months!)
I will say, though, that I am inspired by Abraham Lincoln's quote, "The best thing about the future is that it only comes one day at a time." Honestly I have reflected on that quote many, many times when contemplating my future with twin sons. TWO little ones in different sports, TWO teenagers learning to drive, TWO students leaving for college... When I "go there" in my mind I have to stop & remind myself of Lincoln's famous quote. I only have to make it through today. That is enough.

Some days I make it through, no problem. Other days I struggle to get to 7:00pm (bedtime!). A lot of days are a mix. I play & feed & cuddle, but I also lose my temper, yell and am not as patient as I would like. But each morning I try to wipe the slate clean, pray for more patience, and enjoy these boys who are growing faster than I can comprehend.

I, too, love that quote! I tell myself a quote I got from Kate Gosselin (talking about her kids), "Tomorrow they are only one day older than they are today." It's so common sense but it helps my mind to go, "Sssshhhhh, it's ok!"
