{Saturday June 12th will mark 40 weeks.}
I saw a new practitioner today, a certified nurse midwife (CNM), since my regular doctor is on vacation the next two weeks. I super love this CNM, I've seen her a handful of times before, and she was great today.
She checked my cervix and said there is no change. Everything is still high and tight. She is guessing that Wyatt weighs roughly eight pounds right now, and she doesn't seem concerned that he wants to keep cooking.
I made a follow up appointment with her for next Wednesday (June 15th) and at that point we will begin discussing whether or not I want to be induced, and what type of intervention would be best considering my past c-section. Likely we would start by scraping my membranes, or breaking my water. I am going to try (at least as long as I can) to avoid any medicinal interventions because I read that the contractions caused by medicinal interventions are more severe than those naturally made by the body and therefore lead to more uterine ruptures in women with previous c-section scars.
I am perfectly content to cook Wyatt another week. Sure, my back hurts and I don't sleep, but with my recently diagnosed sinus infection, a few days to rest up & start feeling better would do me some good.
Also, it gives me more time to continue nesting (my house has NEVER been so organized!!!) and continue reading up on (& practicing) the pain management techniques suggested in my birthing book.
So cook away, my son, cook away!

You Go Girl! I am so feeling for you this week...been there, done that, and in the midst of everyone looking at me like I was a bomb about to go off!
Scraping membranes isn't too bad...not that comfortable but not that insanely painful either.
I'll be praying for you girl! :o)
Way to hang in there! Seems like by week 39 most moms are so eager to get that baby out, when babies are generally pretty good at knowing when to come. Yes, if you can avoid pitocin you'll minimize some risks and hopefully have an easier labor. I hope baby chooses to come on his own in good time- not too soon and not too late:) Either way, you'll have that sweet little boy in your arms soon!
I say a baby in your belly is easier to care for than a baby out of your belly. ;). This coming from the girl who has a hard time patiently waiting out pregnancy and gladly scheduled my last c section (I was in no way, shape, or form a good candidate for a VBAC, and honestly, that was alright by me). Can't wait to see this baby!
Good for you Shelly! It is so nice to see how patient you are being! I wish I would of had your patience! It is so awesome that you are totally content with him cooking away!
I hope your feel better soon from that sinus infection!
You're doing fantastic! Cook away I say! The longer the better :-)
Sorry to hear you have a sinus infection. When I was pregnant with the twins I had a horrible one and my acupuncturist turned me on to a neti pot. If you've never used one be prepared to be AMAZED. I am a certified addict now. It's awesome one you get over the gross-ness of it LOL! They sell them everywhere now - like Walgreens, Whole Foods, etc...Since I first found out about them I haven't had to take medication for sinus problems in almost FIVE years!!!!
Nice belly! He will come when he is good and ready :) Good luck with the vbac! If you want to talk about natural birth/breastfeeding let me know, I survived!
