I am waiting with breath that is bated to hear back from my beloved. He was supposed to be, at this point in time, in Anchorage about to board a plane headed for PDX. Instead he is on the runway in Marshall with a plane that has a flat tire.
I am holding out hope for a Christmas miracle, but he said all the flights he looked at going from ANC to PDX were full until Christmas Day. So even if he makes it out at this point, gets to Bethel, and finds a connecting flight from Bethel to Anchorage, it's unlikely he'll get on a plane & make it to us like we had planned.
So tomorrow instead of waking up at 5am to go pick him up at the airport, I will face another day without him. I know I have done this many days now, but somehow, thinking of doing it just one more day feels incredibly daunting. Perhaps because I had so anticipated his arrival, or perhaps because all three of the children and myself are sick... Who's to say.
But I will be sure to keep you all posted as he makes his way slowly, but surely toward the great northwest. I can't wait to embrace him once again and watch as the boys are reunited with their Daddy. It's gonna be great!
Santa won't you bring me the one I really need,
Won't you please bring my baby to me?
