fan mail

 Dear Chicago Fan,
At this point I am wondering more & more about you. Who are you? What are your interests? What exactly about my blog appealed to you? Do you have children? Pets? A job?
What do you love about where you live?

And how on earth was I so blessed as to have earned your devotion?

We got your box yesterday.  Josh worked, then when school let out he ran to the post office. He came home bearing Target curtains (we finally have all of them!), our Old Navy order (hello jeans for Jack & shirts for mommy), an Amazon order (rice, an SD card & a red tote) and an uber-cheerful flat rate box exclaiming "Happy March!"

Happy March indeed! Inside was Top Ramen (which I have been craving), cracker snacks for the kids, cookies for dessert & citrus.

Holy citrus.
The boys, at that point, had both clambered onto the table and started pulling out lemons, limes & oranges, holding them up to show me.
Josh joked, "It's an anti-scurvy box!"

Holy limes.
The boys enjoyed water with lime slices in it for dinner.
They were quite excited by the novelty.

Holy oranges.
This morning I cut an orange into pieces, savoring the juice that squirted out, scenting the air around me, and devoured it.  It was so amazing.  I haven't had a citrus fruit since the grapefruit I had at Josh's parents house back in December.

Holy lemons.
I am looking forward to using the lemons to make my favorite recipe of salmon- it's from my dad and is divine.

So, my blessed friend, about whom I know nothing,
thank you.

Thank you for your thoughtful boxes, rays of sunshine to me, and thank you especially for the celebratory citrus box that truly brought spring to the tundra for me.

Your adoring Alaska fan,
Shelly

Glad you enjoyed the fruit. I wasnt sure that apples would make it. If you think they will let me know and I will grab them and some pears for the next box. The anti scurvy comment LOL. What other things are you craving? I try and pack the boxes full of a little of this and that.

I have no idea what brought me to your site originally but I think your kids are soooo very cute and that you as a family are so brave to uproot yourself and move so far north.
