Just Jack

Jack Sawyer

He is my mini me.  He is sweet, and tender and all too aware of other's emotions. He picks up on my moods like I did with my mom growing up. He writes me sweet notes, gives me hugs, offers to help if I seem overwhelmed and often sees to taking care of Wyatt when I'm busy.

Yesterday Wyatt was unsettled, just sitting in my lap crying while we were trying to do school.  Finally Jack got down from his chair and asked Wyatt if he could please stop crying, it was hurting his ears, and Wyatt goes, "Okay, Jack." Just like that.

He connects. He makes friends easily, loves to please people and is inherently good.

He also thinks he's a big kid. In some ways, this is really helpful. He likes to assist with cleaning the bathroom and while we were in Washington and I was recovering from my wisdom teeth removal he taught himself how to load the dishwasher.

In other ways, it's kind of scary and we have to remind him he's still little.  Like at camping when he decided he was done and rode back to the campsite without asking anyone. He's like me in that way as well. His attitude was, "I knew where I was the whole time", which is the same one I had growing up. It's the kind of attitude that ages your mother & scares her to no end!
