These are some pictures I took of Logan in our bedroom post-bath in our summer house.
His eyes are so expressive. He was cracking me up with these shots.
You know, when he was born, his eyes were blue. BLUE. Piercing, lake-in-the-August-sun blue. Now, though, they are changing. They are sometimes still that blue, but most of the time, they lean towards green, especially on the rims. My eyes did the same thing. They were blue until I was five, and by the time I turned six, they were green.
Logan doesn't only have my eyes, he also carries my worry. When we are out, the three boys and me, he is constantly checking to see if Jack's too far ahead or Wyatt's too far behind.
Ironically he's the one who got lost this summer while we were home in Washington. He and Josh were at Fred Meyer picking up totes for shipping things to Alaska when suddenly they were separated. Logan had been just one aisle behind, but when Josh backtracked to tell Logan to come on, he was gone.
As Logan tells it, he looked for Josh, but couldn't find him. So instead he found a grown up worker, as he had been trained, and told him that he couldn't find his Dad. He immediately showed the worker (who had a mustache, he told Jack later with a giggle) his ID bracelet. He also told the employee that Josh was shopping for totes and wearing a shirt with a Cougar on it. The worker took Logan back where they had been, and together they found Josh.

This was an example of mama-instincts gone right. I had gotten the urge in late April to get the boys ID bracelets like I'd had growing up. So I google searched ID bracelets, found this site, where for less than $30 I got bracelets for all three boys. We then began talking to the boys about getting lost. We kept the conversations simple.
1. Try to stay with us
2. If you get lost, find a police officer, a worker or a mommy or daddy with children
3. Show that grown up your bracelet
(which had their name & our phone numbers on it)
I was beyond proud of Logan for reacting in the moment exactly as we hoped he would. And I was proud of myself for listening to my instincts about getting those bracelets.
Now that we're home, they aren't wearing their bracelets, but any time we travel, (It takes four planes & three airports for us to get home to Washington!) the bracelets will go back on!

That is amazing how well he remembered and executed the plan. That showed what a great mom you are! Also, I can totally see some of your Dad in there pics of Logan.
