The Tooth Fairy Makes Me Cry

Hi!  Just popping in to say hello this Wednesday afternoon.  I finished paying the bills (whew!) while Wyatt was napping and Josh has the twins out shopping for birthday bikes, so I have a spare minute to blog.  Unfortunately, I have been so busy I don't have any pictures to post (sorry!) but I wanted to remember a few things, and the blog is a good way to do that.

Today we went to the dentist.  And that, of all things, made me cry.  The twins' sixth birthday is on Friday.  Wyatt's third birthday is on Father's Day.  But the thing that made me cry, that created a lump in my throat this morning that just won't go away? Both of the twins' bottom two teeth are loose.  My little boys, the babies I soothed through teething and pacifiers and learning to talk, are going to lose those very teeth.  And soon.

This afternoon while I was trying to get the DVD player to cooperate, Wyatt told me I was dramatic.  sigh.  Re-reading that paragraph about Logan & Jack's loose teeth has me wondering if perhaps he's correct.

I saw my first movie of the summer with my mom and sister yesterday!  We saw Blended.  It wasn't amazing, but I did laugh. A lot.  And the popcorn? It was out of this world!

Next week we are seeing The Fault in our Stars.  I'm currently reading the book.
So much of her anxiety is my own.  Worrying really changes nothing, though, so watching her learn to distract herself (redirect her thinking) has been amazing.

Tuesday we took all the kids to the eye doctor. Dr. Richardson, whom I call just Brett, and I went to school together.  He's super awesome with kids and I am so happy to have found him.  All three of my littles will be getting new glasses this summer.  While I am sad that any of them have to wear glasses (because of the inconvenience of it) I have to say that they look stinking adorable (!!!) and I'm happy that all three have to have them, so at least they're in it together.

Josh got new glasses last year, so he's all set. But I am going to get full time glasses.  I am not very excited about this, but I am hoping it will reduce the number of headaches I suffer from working my eyes so hard to focus.

Josh and I also go to the dentist this week, and next week we have the boys' pediatrician appointments.  My goal is always to get all the appointments out of the way as soon as possible.  So far, so good!

So I never published this post last night because Josh and the twins were gone shopping way longer than expected, so I took advantage and started cleaning the house in preparation for the boys' birthday party this weekend.

Then we had dinner (delicious drumsticks on the BBQ + caesar salad + red potatoes) out on our back patio.  It was awesome.  The boys were so good, dinner tasted great, and the weather was perfection.  This was the summer I dreamed of.

Today we farmed out the big boys to my sister and Josh's mom so I could finish cleaning house and getting things ready for the big birthday bash.  So I am off to scrub some toilets & sweep the kitchen.  Hoping to squeeze in an extra long lunch with my book-- The Fault in Our Stars.
I hope your Thursday is lovely!

Well, it must be really hard to think that the twins are finally growing up. Pretty soon they'll be turning into men you're gonna be proud to have. Don't worry, you'll always have a special place in their hearts. Anyway, aren't we thinking too far ahead. Haha! They're still just losing their baby teeth. A lot more things will happen so make the most out of it and capture lots of memories! :)

I get why it made you cry. It’s both sad and beautiful for you to see your kids take this milestone. Losing teeth is just one of the many palpable proofs they’re growing up, and it’s all happening before you’re even ready for it. Well, it’s perfectly normal to feel sad about it. Time flies fast, right? On the other hand, that could also mean you’re living a pretty happy and exciting life that you were too busy to notice it. Cheers!
