Rediscovering Me

What I love:
Writing
Singing in the shower
Belting "Call Me Maybe" in the car
Homemaking
Journaling
Color, rainbows, sparkles
Saltwater sandals
My shows: The Little Couple, Teen Mom 2, Property Brothers, Jon & Kate Plus 8
Walking. Especially outside.
Chick flicks: The Guardian, You've Got Mail, Mona Lisa Smile & The Holiday
Homeschooling, mostly teaching them to read
Country music
Reading: Anita Shreve, Elin Hildebrand, Curtis Sittenfeld
Being a mom
Self Help books: Life Code, Hope & Help for Your Nerves, Women Food & God
Being a wife
Reorganizing pretty much anything
Helping others

Back when I was really deep in depression, I gave up the remote.  Literally and figuratively.  I would put it on something I knew Josh liked or give him the remote and let him choose. I never picked what I wanted to watch, because I either didn't know what I liked any more, or didn't care enough to want to watch it.  Same with music or letting little things make me happy.

As  I slowly find pieces of myself strewn about my life,
I am beginning to rediscover who I am and all the things I love.

It's been a beautiful process.

I'm sorry you have to go through this but it's so nice to know others feel the way I feel. I have been living with depression since the beginning of high school. A physically abusive boyfriend and my mom's mentally abusive boyfriend combined with starting high school and all of my friend going their separate ways sent me into a tail spin. Sophomore year I only attended high school 10% of the year and just barely graduated. I've dealt with it on and off since then including postpartum depression with my kids. Trying to explain it to people that dont experience it is impossible. I have no explanation really because I cant put my finger on what makes me sad, I just am. It took me a long time to realize that this is just like someone having high cholesterol, its in my genes. Im so glad you have an awesome husband and super supportive family (even from a distance) so that you dont become isolated. Keep taking it moment by moment and dont be too hard on yourself. You're doing your very best and your children are proof of that.

What a great pic of you! I love The Holiday too. I'd love to stay in a charming little English cottage for a week!
